C48 Tyrrell, C46 Porsche 917K and a few other cars from this period were Spanish Scalextric manufactered, but also sold in the UK. They were and have always been different companies that have on occasions worked together. Triang (Scalextric owner bought from minimodels) came to some agreement with the owner of the name for the product made in UK/assembled in Spain to be marketed there under some licence agreement. It seems that Exin registered the name and waited for Triang to turn up. In the Scalextric History video Scalextric History Video on Youtube Richard Lines explains this. ![]() They must have registered the name on a pure business decision as I think that the UK owners of Scalextric did not know of this. I beleive the real issue during the early 1960's in Spain was that when Triang's empire was spreading that someone (Exin) had already registered the name "Scalextric" there.
